A rainy day in Southend-on-Sea did not stop over 100 participants taking to the fields in Priory Park to embark on HARP’s Spring Walk 2015 sponsored by Regis Group.
Family and friends with dogs in tow, took to the pathways and meandered along Prittle Brook Greenway for 3.5 miles to Belfairs Park in aid of reducing homelessness in Southend-on-Sea. As a well-deserved reward, volunteers welcomed the ramblers at the finish with bunting fluttering in the breeze, copious cups of tea and a delicious array of homemade treats.
A wonderful day was had by all involved, with donations reaching £4,500 (and counting). The funds raised will help HARP continue the vital work in providing support to those in need and reducing homelessness.
Lucy Martin, Community Fundraising Manager for HARP shared, “We very much value the support of The Regis Group for what was a very successful Spring Walk. We share with Regis the knowledge that housing is a fundamental issue. We are committed to End Rough Sleeping in Southend by 2018. The money raised with Regis’ support will help us in our work with the homeless.”
Regis Group feel it is essential to support local charities within their community and contribute to the positive impact that HARP has in providing a support system and enabling people to rebuild their lives.
